Wildwood Flower Seeds • PDF
Words & Music by Sherri Reese
My daddy played his old guitar as I listened at his knee
In those days the Wildwood Flower was planted in my memory
I didn't know it way back then but the roots were growing strong
I knew when I began to hear that sound in my favorite songs
All a wildwood flower needs is just a little seed
Planted in a patch of fertile ground - tended patiently
It took a long long while but now I know
Daddy planted a little seed hoping it would grow
My daddy played the radio while riding in the car
Mother Maybelle, Doc, and Merle were pickin' their guitars
Daddy just sat back - waiting for the roots to grow
Now, on my own guitar, I'm echoing the radio
Chorus
I remember those old songs my daddy played for me
With fingers pickin' on the strings - he planted a little seed
The roots are buried deep within - and they're still growing strong
And the Wildwood Flower is blooming on and on
Chorus
