Bones Do Rattle • PDF
Words & Music by Debra Stout & Joe LaMay
Driving my cattle up from Stillwater
I'm leaving behind my son and my daughter
It's a long road to ramble with no end in sight
Lonely by day and lonely by night
The Northwind does blow - my bones do rattle
It blows all around me and my cattle
It's a blanket on the ground - my head on my saddle
As the north wind does blow and my bones they do rattle
Well, working this herd is a big numbers game
There's bound to be stragglers out here on the range
But I ride in my saddle from dusk until dawn
And when the wind starts to blowin' I'll keep movin' on
Chorus
When we finally reach Clear Creek with most of the herd
I'm gonna pick up my pay and fly like a bird
Til I reach the ole cabin in the hills of Stillwater
Back in the fold with my son and my daughter
Chorus
